Hope For Children participates at the International Conference on the Rights of Victims of Crime

“Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center participated at the International Conference entitled “A Single View for a Multiple Reality: the Femicide Case”, on 25th of October 2019, organized by KMOP-Social Action and Innovation Centre at Innovathens in Athens. The Conference was held within the framework of the European Project Support Voc, that Hope For Children participated as partner. Support Voc project is co-financed by the Justice Programme of the European Commission (Ref. JUST-AG-2016-760641).

Hope For Children was represented by Ms Christina Mavrou, Coordinator of the Justice & Fundamental Rights Unit and Ms Zoi Kinikli, Clinical Psychologist at Children’s House. The Cyprus mission was accompanied by the First Officer of the Social        Welfare Services, Mr. Eftychios Hadjichristodoulou who’s participation empowered the contribution regarding the results given on a national level.

During the Conference, all participants presented their findings and results regarding the support of victims of crime in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Italy. Also, emphasis was given in the criminal case of femicide, which is an extreme form of gender-based violence. Specifically, statistics from the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, demonstrate that 6 women are killed per hour – in the world- from people they know. 

Under the same roof and after a great research, distinguished speakers from the field of criminology, the tertiary education and the public administration analyzed crucial issues such as femicide in Europe, cases of femicide, as well as the procedures that should be followed for ending this criminal phenomenon in Greece and Europe.
